About Me

Here at DM Andy Maps, I create high-quality and highly detailed maps to help supplement your game sessions, provide inspiration, and immerse you and your players in adventures you've spent hours crafting.

I've been an artist my whole life, since I could hold a pencil and started drawing and using watercolors with my dad. We loved recreating the epic scenes from his favorite Borris Vallejo art books, and I'll never forget that time together. He's passed now, but I still try to make him proud of me with my own work.

It was not until I (re)discovered D&D when 5e came out that I started making maps for my own group and posting them to the community. I rediscovered my love for art and found the creativity that life had tried to steal from me. I was hooked!

All of my work is human-created, and you'll never see me use AI to generate my maps (ever!). I hire two very talented individuals, as I'm very big into giving back to the art community. I have an artist who does hand-drawn / 3d rendered custom assets for me and a developer who builds the incredible Foundry modules you see in my Foundry VTT tier. Art is a community, and they help bring my work to life.

I use Inkarnate as my base platform, though most of my assets these days are custom-created. I then do a fair amount of polishing in Photoshop, where I apply my color moods, weather effects, and more.

I can't promise you I'll be perfect, but I can promise you that each map was lovingly created by hand by me, drawing in all sorts of inspiration from the fantasy genres I've been into my whole life. My maps are not only my passion, but my livelihood and a way for me to honor my dad, who was a very talented artist!
