A quick pencil map in the back of my school notebook, a battered old dice from 'snakes and ladders', and making up the rules as we went along.
And then from the moment I saw the cover of the iconic 1st Edition AD&D Player's Handbook with the thieves prizing a fabulous jewel from the eye of the demon idol, I was hooked on D&D!
It’s traditional to start a new campaign in a simple rustic setting with a ‘kill the rats’ or ‘find the blacksmith’s daughter’ adventure.
But I love to have the players meet interesting and powerful NPCs and to get involved in a major world-scale storyline from the very beginning.
I’m also a fan of having a very obvious enemy, and the Salmotepians fit the bill perfectly. They are thoroughly Evil, and their ranks are filled with powerful adversaries and recurring villains who will challenge the PCs all the way from 1st to 20th level.
I hope you enjoy running these adventures as much as I enjoyed writing them!
All the best,
I’d love to hear your questions, comments and suggestions or just to chat about D&D. firstname.lastname@example.org
