In Wake of the Wind Fish, a group of level-4 adventurers visits a water genasi settlement called Zorannia. A mysterious astral fey fish visits the town once a year. The locals call it the Wind Fish and see its annual visits as a source of good fortune and fertility. Something terrible a few days ago when the Wind Fish came for its expected visit. It was sick and weak. A priestess tried to help it but got swallowed in the process to the horror of perplexed bystanders.
An old taboo prevents the genasi from following the Wind Fish to its refuge in the mountain, an ancient temple abandoned generations ago. A drow guide and researcher in town, named Falandir, knows the way up the mountain and is the only person in town willing to investigate the Wind Fish, apart from the adventurers. What no one knows is that an evil creature within the astral fish makes it sick. This quest shall bring the adventurers to the Wind Fish innards to find the malignant parasite.
This adventure can easily be placed in any campaign setting. Wake of the Wind Fish can be played as an independent one-shot or as a cool chapter in your campaign setting. The whole adventure has an estimated duration of 5 to 7 hours.
This is an overview of the chapters and how the adventure is most likely to play out:
1. Finding the Ancient Nest. The adventurers meet the water genasi, Slate, and Falandir, a drow who is with them at the moment. The dark elf knows the way to the mountain and has even delved inside it. He can't go any further due to the blocked tunnels and cave-ins.
2. Inside the Wind Fish. The adventurers find the Wind Fish in the Ancient Nest and hear its call for help in their minds. The inside of the Wind Fish is a complex and dangerous dungeon. The adventurers must find the bio-electric anemone and slay it to save the Wind Fish (This chapter includes an awesome isometric view of the insides of the Wind Fish).
