A winding path takes the party up to a fortified gate. Is it dilapidated brick, or brightly-painted? Are they visiting an old master, or answering a distress call? What sect lives here? Do they take kindly to guests?

Thoughts

Many optional secret exits & entrances are hidden in the mountain, and one secret flight of stairs connects the greenhouse to the hidden archives. Doors are excluded from these to preserve GM choice in which are used.
The carpeted room has a good vantage point for targeting bridge-crossers.
Troublemakers might descend down the mountain via the gentler slope leading to the courtyard!
There's some odd crystals embedded in the cave walls. I wonder if those are valuable?
