Some say it is a prison for the damned souls, that have wandered for too long, unwilling to pass to the other side - that they have turned into something else, something that had to be contained. And that they will be contained until the candles last.
Some say it is a temple of light, with never weavering flame, rivers of gold and angelic sounds.
One thing is certain - you'll never know for sure until you visit the place and find out for yourself.
