Facing the Ocean's eternity, on a spring day, under a blue sky, the village looks idyllic. The songs of the clam diggers contrast with the fishmongers' screeching.
The aroma is a different beast, unnoticed by the locals but capable of leaving a mountain barbarian gagging on their knees.
Despite their calm demeanour, the anglers are hunters at heart. On the open sea, no quarter is offered by the beasts from the depths. The catch is earned and not given away lightly. This same spirit applies to defending their home from threats.
As to the vile rumours of smugglers operating from the village, these are just lies borne of jealousy from the puddle digging, rice peasants.
