"As night begins to fall, you approach the river crossing but you cannot hear it. Ordinarily the Grand River is deafening on approach, especially at night time, and at high tide, but there is no sound whatsoever. Something is not right. As you stand at the river bank, looking down into the dry bed below, or what you can make out of it, you realise that there is only one way to cross. You turn around to Rybren as he muses 'I sure hope you have appropriate footwear for column jumping."
