The Cast Down
A 5E adventure for character levels 1-5. The Cast Down is set in the Sands of Suptara Campaign from AVA or easily set in any Desert themed location within your own campaign.
Traveling in a caravan bound for Thronis, the player characters' journey is disrupted by a massive sand storm, an Umaj, that obliterates the road, stranding the party in the desert heat. Short on options, the party is forced to resupply and seek guides in the city of Khem where the indigenous people struggle under the heal of ruthless Chemok Federation.
Adventure Background:
The once-vibrant city of Khem, nestled in the heart of the harsh and unforgiving Suptaran desert, was a realm of diverse cultures and a crossroads for trade and knowledge. However, the sands of fate shifted with the rise of the Chemok Federation, a formidable foreign power that seeks to extend its dominion across the Suptara desert. Saija Mubarat, a shrewd and calculating leader heads the Chemok expansion in the deep desert. In an audacious move, the Federation systematically overthrew Khem's rightful ruler, King Yamajra, imprisoning him as both a symbol of their control and a means to subjugate the city's populace.
Under the Chemok Federation's reign, Khem underwent a drastic transformation. The city's cultural mosaic has shattered, as waves of Federation loyalists flooded in, altering the fabric of its culture. Discrimination and persecution became the norm, as the Supt Arat people found themselves marginalized and oppressed within their homeland. The streets that once buzzed with life now whisper tales of fear and despair.
An undercurrent of suspicion flows through the city, fueled by rumors that the Chemok Federation is hoarding grain, supplies, and sustenance taken from the local populace, threatening to leave the Supt Arat population to wither away in the unforgiving desert. The granaries that were once a source of abundance for all now threaten famine furthering the Federation's chokehold on the beleaguered Supt Arat people.
As the Chemok Federation's grip tightens, the once-proud Supt Arat people cling to tales of their deposed king, Yamajra, who they believe languishes in captivity in the dungeons of his own palace. A growing underground resistance called The Cast Down, seeks to thwart the Chemok federation’s hold on the city and restore King Yamajra to the throne.
