The vast desert of the Everdune has been for generations a staple of myth and legend, drawing adventurers and explorers to its borders from across the world. Few survive its hardships, but those that do return with stories of adventure and wonder, telling tales of dunes that shift like waves at night and bizarre creatures that stalk the wastes.
Recently, a small, highly-fortified town called Ardent has been established deep into the desert, but it has become plagued by constant attacks, the secretive ekrothari elves of the Everdune appearing at night to drag its inhabitants beneath the sands. In truth, the people of Ardent are secretly despoiling the sacred places of the elves, having been commissioned by a wealthy noble to steal the eggs of the local sand drakes. These incredibly durable creatures are all but immortal, and their eggs have restorative properties that can return youth to the elderly. The ekrothari revere them, and are responding to their poaching by the people of Ardent with swift, savage reprisals.
A call for aid has been raised by Ardent, and a convoy of junior priests have answered – but they require the service of trustworthy adventurers to protect them as they traverse the desert…
This adventure is designed for four to five 8th-level characters.
