Level 3-4
In the town of Grimsvale this Yuletide season, all is not peaceful and bright. A young toy maker named Kris has been arrested by the forces of the cruel town burgermeister. His crime? Distributing toys to children, an act strictly forbidden by a recent decree.
Kris is now locked away in the dungeon beneath the burgermeister's formidable hilltop keep. To make matters worse, this same dungeon is rumored to house a terrible creature that stalks the forest each night seeking prey.
Friends of Kris have quietly put out a request amongst the adventuring folk of the region that they would like to hire someone to attempt to rescue Kris so that he might again bring a bit of joy to the children of the town.
Level 3-4
The Dead Man’s Cove has always been a raucous and lively dockside tavern—until tonight. Its owner, Amaro Drake, has fled into the fog after a violent supernatural attack. Ghostly pirates have overtaken the place and are demanding the return of a stolen amulet. Now, Amaro offers a reward to anyone bold enough to enter the haunted tavern and banish the spirits before dawn.
But what Amaro hasn't said is that these aren’t just any ghosts—they’re Amaro’s former crewmates, betrayed by him decades ago for treasure and glory. Their leader, Bronn, seeks revenge and the return of his enchanted amulet. Amaro insists that the worthless amulet rightfully belongs to him, but he seems to be hiding something. If any who take up this task want to survive the night, they’ll need to uncover the truth, confront the past, and decide who truly deserves to rest in peace.
Level 1-2
Dread hangs heavy in the air of the Silvered Dagger Inn on what started as a normal boisterous night. Two workers have vanished without a trace. What began as a simple errand to fetch some extra chairs from the cellar has escalated into a nightmare. And now the innkeeper pleads from the common room's edge: "Are there any hearty adventurers among you?!"
A Hidden Threat
Beneath the familiar bustle of the Silvered Dagger lies a forgotten network of caverns, recently disrupted by a massive tunnel collapse. Now a band of vicious reptilian humanoids, separated from their main hunting grounds by the collapse, have been forced to find new prey.
Drawn by the sound of the inn’s activity and scent of foodstuffs, the reptilians have smashed their way into the inn’s cellar and have begun to hunt.
Level 2-3
Two nights ago the Ohlmer homestead at the edge of the forest was attacked. Four members of the family were dragged off in the night. Ginnie, the youngest daughter of the Ohlmer family, managed to escape the attackers and make her way to a neighboring farm to tell the terrifying tale of what happened. Shortly after nightfall spiders, some as large as a full grown cow emerged from the woods and attacked the Ohlmer's, dragging their victims back into the dark forest.
The following day a group of neighboring farmers found the path the creatures had taken and discovered the entrance to a cave deep in the woods that must be the spiders home.
The famers have pooled their resources to hire a group of hearty adventurers, to go into the caves on the slim chance that there are any survivors to rescue and also to destroy the terrible abominations before they hunt again.
Level 2-3
Wizards are dying, their arcane power failing them at the worst possible moment. Fear grips the magic using community as a shadowy cabal of assassins, wielding a terrifying substance called Mage Bane, stalks the streets, systematically eliminating practitioners of the arcane arts. Local authorities are baffled, but a desperate group of magic-users suspects the key lies in a rare mushroom cultivated deep within a perilous cave system.
These caves, however, are not unguarded. Allies of the assassins protect the valuable ingredient, ready to defend it with deadly force.
A band of adventurers is needed to delve into the darkness, brave the dangers within, destroy the source of Mage Bane, and expose the mastermind behind these heinous crimes before the city's magic is extinguished forever.
Level 1-3
After a long winter, local ranchers have opened up the spring grazing grounds and moved their stock to the fresh grass. This year, however, something has gone terribly wrong; cattle have been disappearing. Two or three animals are missing each evening when the ranchers do their round-up count. Thinking the problem was bandits, the ranchers organized a watch to keep a closer eye on things out in the field. Their discovery was… unexpected.
In the year since they last grazed this land a massive insect-like creature, an ankheg, has made its home here. And apparently it has developed a taste for beef.
The ranchers now look to hire a band of adventurers to go down into the ankheg lair and get rid of the creature before it can decimate more of their stock.
Complication or Opportunity?
To make the situation a bit more complicated, what the ranchers don’t know is that there is a small band of kobolds who view the ankheg as something of a tenuous ally. They hide in the hidden recesses of the ankheg lair and will do whatever it takes to assist the dangerous ankheg they view as their deadly protector.
Level 3-4
A meteor blazed across the sky three nights ago. It bathed the area in a strange green light before thundering to the ground in the marshy forest north of town. Folk who were not far from the impact site reported that the meteor hit with such force that it punched through the marshy soil, coming to rest in a previously unknown cave not far below the surface. Four curious townsfolk ventured to explore the impact site two days ago, but have not returned.
Whispers of withering trees and an eerie greenish light emanating from the meteor crash site are only adding to the fear spreading through the community. The town council, faced with the unsettling disappearance and these strange omens, now urgently seeks a band of brave adventurers to go to the site, locate the missing townsfolk, and confront whatever unknown threat has taken root in the depths of the Cave of the Fallen Star.
Level 4-5
The old abandoned tower at the edge of town was a bargain for three hopeful souls who were looking to fix-up the old place and turn it into the inn of their dreams. But they bought more than they bargained for.
A Warning from the Past
Shortly after moving in, the new owners found a letter left by a former occupant of the tower. The letter warns any who enter the tower of a terrible danger that lurks in the cellar. The friends, realizing they're out of their depth, seek adventurers brave enough to cleanse the tower's cellar and exorcise its dangerous tenants.
