Smoke billows from the chimney of an idyllic cottage in the woods. Torchlight flickers behind sooty windows. The door is left slightly ajar, enticing travelers to step under the threshold and into a welcoming common room. Inviting and cozy as the space seems to be, something is amiss.
This map pack is designed to set the stage for a one-shot adventure, wherein the party arrives to a quaint cabin and upon exploring its interior, discovers it to be a colony of mimics. Upon slaying all the mimics inside the house, the house itself begins to tremble and is itself awakened. Its walls morph into the grotesque innards of a terrible monstrosity, which the party is encouraged to evacuate by the great mimic's corrosive digestive acids. Should the party retreat to the exterior, they can face the horrific house mimic in all its glory. Bonus points to PCs who clear the well and the outhouse.
This map could also serve for a memorable social encounter with a sentient mimic colony, or could be used on its own simply as a cabin in the woods. A map with an empty interior is included for gamemasters wishing to customize with their own assets. This map works best with my "Mimics!" token set (sold separately) which includes all 33 original furniture/mimic assets seen in this map, with the exception of the house itself.
