The Into The Wilds Underdark 01 Combo Bundle contains Day, Night, Alternate & Unfurnished variants of 16 different themed maps! These maps are intended to be more generic than my regular sets and are perfect to drop in for random encounters when on the road or for when the party takes an unexpected turn and you want to be prepared! Explore the labyrinthine caves and tunnels below the worlds surface.
This Bundle Includes:
Boneyard - The tunnels open out into a larger cavern, possibly offering some reprieve, but as your eyes adjust to the dim light, it becomes clear that this is not a place to stop. Bones of both man and beast litter the area, and it seems a previous group attempted to hide among the nooks and crannies of the rock wall to no avail.
Cliffs & Ladders - After hours of trudging through tight, labyrinthine pathways, you come upon what initially seems to be an impassable obstacle. A cliff face, so high you can barely make out the top. It seems someone had left simple rope ladders over a few of the smaller ridges. Perhaps there is one up there too?
Crystal Caves - A fantastical glow and what sounds like shimmering air greets you as you round the corner. Clusters of multi-coloured crystals are growing within the cavern, and they almost seem to sing as you draw closer, as though they are pleased to see you. Is that sound really coming from them, or is it only in your mind?
Lost Tunnels - It's no wonder people go mad down here, the twisting maze of tunnels and caves seems never ending and progress is painfully slow. Hours spent clearing one obstacle only unveil a dead end or further trials. Will it ever end?
Mushroom Grotto - In certain parts of the cavern systems, the ever present glowing mushrooms and fungi grow to an enormous size, large enough to light up the space as though you weren't hundreds of feet underground. Carefully collecting these scarce resources may be the difference between survival and madness, just be careful you pick the right ones.
Gorge - The lava flow probably passed right through this chamber once, burning all who came near, but centuries of erosion place it safely hundreds of feet below your feet. Now you just have to figure out how to cross the expansive gorge left in its wake.
Rope Bridge - This passage must be used by the local denizens on occasion, although judging by the condition of the single rope bridge, not all that often. Will you risk crossing it, or take your chances and climb down the steep cliff face into the deeper recesses of the Underdark.
Ledges - Two enormous sinkholes have dropped out of the floor of this chamber, taking almost the entirety of the ground with them. A treacherous looking series of old planks and ropes must have been left here by some other poor soul who found themselves lost in the same stone labyrinth. Maybe they have shown you the path?
Lava Flow - Lava flows seem to appear haphazardly throughout the endless network of caverns, occasionally surprising the party by erupting from a nearby wall or ceiling. It seems likely that many of these tunnels were carved out by the flowing magma, but what, if anything, is directing it?
Mud Pit - In some areas of the underdark stale, dank water pools around the vegetation, unable to drain away. This creates areas of thick oozy mud that grab hold of boots and try to suck you down. It is said that certain creatures can live and even thrive in these pits. Just hope you don't encounter any of them.
Underground Stream - Fresh, drinkable water is a scarcity down here, so when you do come across it, it is best to fill every available canteen and container you have. Keep an eye out for other denizens of the dark attempting to do the same.
Forgotten Ruins - Many past civilisations have tried to escape below ground for one reason or another. Most fail, but they often leave some remnants of their passing. Ruins like these litter the parts of the underdark that are, or at least were, closer to the surface.
Giant Webs - There are many creatures that inhabit the deep dark places of the world, but few haunt the nightmares of both children and adults like the 8 legged giant arachnids. Whole swathes of the tight passageways are covered in their sticky webs, and while the webs may be relatively easy to cut away or burn, their creators are not.
Darklake Shore - The gentle lapping of water on land might fool you into thinking you have finally reached the exit and found your way to the ocean, but this is simply the start of another endless journey. The darklake seems to go on for ever, and with visibility limited to an arms span and no notable landmarks or signposts, it just might.
Darklake Island - After hours, or possibly even days of trying to move the raft through sheer force of will, a small bank of dirt and rock appears off to the right of the boat. A relatively safe place to get some rest perhaps?
Darklake Depths - The endless stretches of green water, broken only by the sharp teeth of stalagmites and stalactites, give no indication of depth. Maybe you could simply step off the raft and walk along the lake bed. The occasional ripples caused by something other than the magnetic tides suggest this might be a bad idea though.
