A Savannah, or Tropical Grassland, is an ecosystem characterized by grass and widely spaced crooked trees, where the canopy does not close. It is dry most of the time and the rainfall happens almost only on one season, therefore, the grass is almost always dry and yellow, but it becomes green and lively once a year.
Due to it's dry nature, savannas are very vulnerable to wildfires and it may be even created by human's hands, emerging from a burned down forest after only the fire resistant plant species survives. Aboriginal burnings were probably responsible for the the Australian Savannah.
This biome occurs mainly in Africa, South America and Australia, being usually a transitional zone between forest and desert.
