"In every age, men, elves, beasts, and worse have sought the Hearts of the Divines. Some would wield them, some would worship them, some would bury them deep once more. Kingdoms have risen about them, and crumbled. Saints have burned in their light; tyrants have withered before their fury. One such relic, still warm with that ancient pulse, lies within the old stones of.... "
Built by a semi-mythical, semi-historical religious figure, the Keep is said to have grown around the heart, as ivy around stone. The Church was first established, and a strict religious Order around it. The Church of the Crimson Vein now is the singular most powerful religious order of these lands, and where the relic is kept, still beating rhythmically, endless blood flowing from it's divine aortas.
The Heart is revered there by the Cult of the Living Flame, a solemn and blood-bound order who speak not its name, but call it simply He. They say His dreams bleed into the waking world, and the faithful are shaped in the warmth of His unseen hand. Some claim the Keep itself stirs with His will, that the halls shift when unobserved, and that the shadows whisper secrets to those who kneel.
Pilgrims arrive in hushed caravans, bearing gifts, prayers, or madness.
