"At first, like me, you dumbly think that it is the hat of a gentleman who would have mistakenly forgotten it on this small table... Just the table you pass every day when you leave your room... It's quite a blessing, lucky indeed. And you fancy this hat a lot... So as it's already late in this corridor. Naturally you try to steal it ! And that's where it goes wrong!
Instead of the rabbit, a bounty hunter in black comes out of the hat, without a sound. The kind of guy who knows he's a hundred times stronger than you. So he beats you to a pulp, slowly, methodically, without giving you a chance. At some point he decides it's over, you hit the ground hard and then... darkness.
And when you open your eyes again... you're the rabbit now! You're in the hat!
I don't know exactly how it works... some kind of pocket dimension i guess, some strange thing for sure. The guy goes in and out of the hat with no effort. You bet ! he walks around with his secret hideout on his head...
Me... I'm still lucky... he had asked me a few questions and punched me in the face few times and then I was rotting for a few weeks in the little cell hidden under the stairs...
Sometimes there was just a hand sticking out of the hole... he would grab a knife or a potion and the hand would come out, just like that ! But, at other times, he'd come and mess around in the whole hat. He would write letters, make elixirs or tinker with strange gadgets and weapons that I had never seen before... That's when I realized that he was a damn bounty hunter.
One day, he stormed into the hat with his face covered in blood... it must have been really bad out there. He went up the stairs like a storm and I heard a squeaking noise. Like when you turn a mill that hasn't been used for a long time. And suddenly! Tchac! A huge quarrel flew before my eyes and disappeared through the hole. I later realized that he had a giant crossbow stashed up there and that he could shoot the jerks who attacked him from inside... I wouldn't have liked to be the one who had the hat in his hands at that time.
And then, weeks later... he set me free. You're thinking, "What a smart bounty hunter... letting a guy get away with a detailed plan of his little hideout." Except... He offered me a deal. You see, since I know the bastards in the area pretty well, he hires me to work a bit for him. For example, I'll chat with an old friend while he goes around the tavern or sneaks behind his back. I don't know why he wants to get you... and honestly i don't care. There's one thing I know for sure though. When a guy like my boss is looking for you, you have better time to sit on the floor and wait for him to come... Running away from this guy is like trying to escape the night.
