Road Encounters

Hi everyone, and welcome to my Road Encounters map release! This 40x30 map features a winding road cutting through a rocky landscape with looming pines on either side. In the deep forest off the side of the road, you can spot red eyes of various beasts watching your party as they traverse this isolated stretch of land.

Road maps have been a staple for RPGs as parties travel from one location to another and many encounter ideas can be placed here. To help with this, I've created three different variants of this map:

Party Camp: A small collection of tents and bedrolls with a crackling fire for a good long rest!
Isolated Grave: A single grave marks the side of the road with a singular candle forever lit. Who is buried here? Why does the candle never go out? Even in the rain?
Trees: I filled in this section with more trees so you can have a purely wooded road (or use all three variants in succession!)

Additionally, for each variant, I've created a "No Trees" version in the event you want to swap out the tree and no-tree versions in Roll20 to help show token placement under the trees (Or you can use it as a deforested area!).

Variants

I've created 6 different color variants to help you set the perfect mood for your encounters. Each variant contains various weather effects such as fog, rain, and sun rays. The variants included in this pack are:

Dark Fairytale: This variant evokes a playful yet creepy atmosphere, with deep, darkened hues that bring out the rich colors of the map.
Sunny Day: A bright and cheerful version, focusing on a sunny and vibrant aesthetic to give a warm, inviting feel.
Ghostly: Bathed in an eerie green glow, this variant creates a haunted and spectral ambiance.
Gloom: This version tones down the map's colors, deepening the shadows to evoke a somber and moody environment.
Warm: A balanced mix of light and warmth, this variant enhances the map's vibrancy with rich, inviting colors.
Night: Illuminated by silvery moonlight, this version creates a serene yet mysterious nighttime setting.
