A good old fashioned Ancient Tomb map, complete with winding caverns, alternate routes, booby traps and monsters! Will your party decide to go through the trapped caverns, or risk their hand at the monster infested tunnels that back onto the tomb? And how will they deal with the ghostly resident they find at the end? To see how I ran it, read on!
This map was intended as a oneshot for my party. King Marvin The Decent, a generally ok and average King, is facing a problem; he has been disturbed from his rest by tomb raiders trying to break in and steal his gold! He promises a reward to the party if they can stop the bandits from pilfering his gold and disturbing the rest of his wife, Queen Mary. He isn't concerned with the Gold - the traps were his wife's idea - it's the principle of the thing!
The party can follow the bandits through the trapped corridors, or they can take the winding caverns to intercept the Raiders and trigger the traps to harass and whittle down their numbers as they go.
The first room contains a hidden storeroom that leads to the caverns, and is where the party first meets the Raiders and King Marvin.
The second room is a large bridge over lava, with pressure plates on the bridge that activate statues that rush across and push people off into the lava. There's an overlook in the tunnels that the party can use to remotely trigger the traps.
The third room has a locked door, and a slope up which the Raiders can attack anybody in the tunnels. There is a large boulder hidden behind a set of locked doors that can be set rolling by the party!
The cavern next along the tunnel's path is where the party first fights whatever monsters inhabit the tunnels.
The fourth room is where the creatures have set up a small den, and are fighting the bandits; the chitin / webbing is highly flammable!
The fifth room is a maze, where stepping in front of the wrong statues means extremely high damage, with the party able to harass and manipulate the path of the raiders from above.
The next chamber in the tunnels is the home of the Queen of whatever the monsters are, whether they be spiders or centipedes or something else. It's a miniboss!
The final room is the main burial chamber, where the boss fight against any remaining raiders takes place. The wall leading to the tunnels can be busted down by the party.
Enjoy the dungeon!
