There are two entrance to the cave complex, a main one and a side one, where the giant spider crawls through unnoticed. Perhaps a good survival or perception check can reveal the secondary entrance to a player?
In this map pack you'll find 8 unique variants:
• Day and Night
The cave is overrun. The light of the sun and moon shinign through the entrance and a large opening on the roof of the cave reveal its interior. Perhaps it is not made evident immediately, but as the players delve deeper they realize that this isn’t merely an empty cavern, but something horrific has made its lair here! Prepare to fight at a disadvantage, as the giant spider and its smaller minions crawl out from every hole of this place!
• Toxic
These aren’t just any type of spiders, but a mutated variant! They spit acid and their bite is coated with a deathly venom! The terrain now isn’t just danger from the risk of getting trapped, but also because the acidic pools formed from the liquids of these creatures poses a poison threat to the party.
• Underdark
Perhaps your players found the lair of an underdark spider. Here, the luminous mushrooms emit strange lights and help navigation. But who knows what properties they hold? Perhaps they are poisonous, or perhaps they explode when they come in contact with fire. Or maybe, they emit a sleeping dust that will cause the party to fall asleep after prolonged contact..
•Frost Spider Cave
The cold becomes unbearable, and your players are close to getting an exhaustion point. The cave ahead of them seems like a welcome solace to the freezing winds. However a new challenge awaits them, as the frostbite spiders don’t take kindly to visitors.
•Crystal Cave
A beautiful blue light can be seen originating from within the cave. As the party enters, they are both alerted from the webs covering the walls of this place, but also awestruck from the wonderful crystals adorning the rough environment around them. These crystals may be worth quite the gold and silver too, but will you risk delving deeper?
•The Dwarven Outpost
A group of dwarfs in the nearby hold tell you of the old outpost, a few days travel from here. The expedition was sent to secure the area for their faction and open up new trade routes to the surrounding cities. For a time, it served its purpose well. Until one day, rumors say, tragedy struck and the entire expedition was wiped by some monster. Any explorers sent their have yet to return, and the dwarfs have but given up. Some say, that the monster has left and that the cave is free for the taking. But, as is usual, nobody wants to risk their hide. For a price, however, perhaps some brave adventurers can help out..
•The Old Gold Mine
An old gold mine, where swarthy workers picked away throughout the scorching days to unearth the valuable ore, a lot of which can still be found inside mining carts and crates, a tempting sight to any adventurer. Where to the tracks lead, and what caused this valuable asset of the trade company to go out of work?
