It is hard to believe that in a world full of monsters a man can instill such fear. But even now the name Victor Bancroft is spoken only in vispers. You may know him by his grim title - Lord Bloodletter.
No one knows what drove him to madness. Some say it was the death of his wife, others that it was the purity of his bloodline. Nevertheless, he was truly mad. Lord Bancroft thought he was a vampire and collected taxes in blood. Even children were not exempt. Every month citizens of Halfstone brought vials and bottles filled with crimson.
The vile ritual brought famine and disease to the land. No gods were willing to bless it. And soon the people raised up. They tiered down the mansion’s doors and dragged their tyrant to the main square. Lord was thrown down the well.
However, the nightmare of Halfstone did not end with the death of the lord. All the water brought to town became red and tasted of iron. No cleric could lift this curse. And soon the Halfstone was left by all who once lived there. Only the dead remained.
