This set is designed to enable DMs to create compelling world maps for adventures in space or across the astral planes. The Starcharter is a tool that can be used to make large maps that encompass the whole region of space the campaign takes place in, but also the star systems depicted on those large maps, as well as individual planets that reside in the star systems themselves. You can show your players a map of the world their adventure starts on, any other world they come across during the campaign as well as all the space in-between them. The pack contains various maps of space regions, solar systems, an immense collection of illustrated planets of many types, various fantastical locations to be encountered in the void and some utility objects like banners and markers. Enough variety to create multiple campaigns, each unique, without constantly reusing the same three art assets.
This pack contains a total of 367 assets:
-48 handcrafted maps of space/astral void;
-15 solar system maps;
-5 backgrounds for planet maps;
-232 illustrated planet art for use as objects in space as well as maps themselves;
(including high and low habitability worlds, moons, death worlds, ringed planets and gas giants)
-50 handcrafted art pieces depicting space objects, locations, points of interest and vessels;
-6 matching style utility objects;
-9 generic backdrop maps,
-2 icons of compasses
How to use:
It's easy, simple and above all fast. Create a new page in your game, it should be 25x25 squares (50x25 squares for the large maps). Use white grid with minimal opacity for best visual effect. Pick one of the maps you like and drag and drop it on the page, be it large map/region map/solar system map/ planet background. Now populate it with what you feel is appropriate choosing from a wide range of assets this pack offers. As the last step, use the in-built Roll20 textbox tool to name the locations and regions of the maps that you just created using the language your group prefers. I recommend using Della Respira font for best visual effect and clarity (you can put spaces in-between letters to create wider texts reminiscent of traditional cartography). When creating planet maps I recommend enlarging the art to around 15x15 squares and using the 1x1 round marker to mark locations your players can visit/know of. If you want, you can put two similar looking planets next to each other to create a map of 'both sides of the planet' - style that is popular with some tabletop systems. You can also create 50x50 square game pages and fill them with multiple maps that can then function as a dashboard - great to have as background when your players are discussing next moves and planning their journey.
Have fun and happy creating! If you like this type of content be sure to check out my seller page here for more.
