I present a map pack with an arena that can be used for big PvP fights or for huges battles of our players against other NPC groups!
I wish you a lot of fun with epic battles and legendary deaths!
Content:
- A gigantic and detailes arena of 100x100
- The middle part of the arena can be swapped out with alternative variants to reveal a final and changing boss platform
- All variants have the option to present the arena full of corpses and blood from previous fights, or leave it untouched
The six alternatives for replacing the center platforms are:
A blood platform
A nature platform
A lava platform
An acid platform
An ice platform
A variant without platform and just a big chasm
Construction in roll20:
Since the maps have enormous dimensions, I cut them into four parts each. In your game, you can then simply reassemble them into one seamless arena.
The 25x25 parts are each named with their variant (e.g. lava) and their position.
TR = Top Right
TL = Top Left
BR = Bottom Right
BL= Bottom Left
Finally, some notes and ideas on how to use the arena:
This arena is built for epic and bloody competitions. During these fights the participants try to get the powerful weapons in the chests. When only two teams are left alive, another massive platform rises from the ground and sets the scene for a final confrontation.
How to use this arena?
In general, this arena can be used for big PvP fights or for a classic battle of our players against other NPC groups. In both cases there is of course the option of throwing in monsters that will attack anything that moves.
Your players aim to open as many of these chests as possible and get hold of the powerful magical weapons inside. But reaching the chests is not enough, because they are well secured. If you fail to open it, the safety mechanism will throw you many meters through the arena. This will make combat dynamic and players will have to spread out and help each other.
Throw a number of different humanoid enemies at your player. The other teams could, for example, have very specific talents and be adapted to each other. In addition, your heoes could get to know the groups before entering the arena. Here they can try to make temporary allies and maybe create enemies that will fight them particularly brutally.
Opening each chest also allows you to unleash a specific boss monster for that area. The boss-monster that kills the most participants, regardless of whether if the monster was defeated itself, will rise in a more powerful version together with the appropriate area in the center and protect the last chest.
In addition to the other teams, there is of course also the possibility to settle other monsters, which will attack all groups. (The chests could also contain an item that allows you to charm and control one or more monsters from the respective area)
The characteristics of the different areas:
In the area of ice, the ground is slippery and bare skin will quickly freeze solid. The ice can also break and the monsters cause cold damage, which causes your heroes to chill faster and faster.
The blood, in turn, harbors monsters made of nothing but flesh, which will hunt you down, injure you, and try to enter the heroes' bloodstreams. Only the mentally strong will not be lose control over their own bodies.
Lava, on the other hand, is said to be quite warm. Enemies from the lava will splash you with it or try to shove you inside. It's particularly nasty when the ground melts away from under your feet and then hardens again very quickly. In addition to great pain, you are unable to move.
The realm of water appears as the most harmless. I leave it up to you whether you place the most powerful and brutal plant monsters there or whether you want to mess with your players and really only harmless creatures like rabbits and deer lurk there. (Mabey just until a group here spills the first blood and the bloodthirsty abominations reveal their true nature).
The purple acid, on the other hand, represents a magical essence from all previous areas. The monsters there will combine all the properties of the other creatures and completely destroy both mind and body if our heroes allow it.
I hope you like my work and I wish you a lot of fun in this arena! :)
