“What is this drink? I feel so strange…”
The residents of this coastal town have been acting odd. This tavern is bleak and quiet. People nurse their drinks with blank stares and mumbling lips. Late nights are interrupted by nightmares, distant screams, delusional ranting in the streets, and unsettling visions of unexplainable horrors. What is happening in this town?! Players learn of recent shipments of a strange ale that is the cause of increased instability and chaos within the hamlet. Following a lead they take a boat into sea caves where these shipments originated.
MAP 1: The dank caves and tunnels reek of low-tide death and rot. Players make their way through the tunnels. Taking care to not disturb large undulating slimy eggs that cover chamber walls.
MAP 2: As they explore deeper they discover an entrance to an ancient stone keep - strange intricate carvings.
MAP 3: Once inside oil lamps illuminate stone architecture, a bridge spans over a large pool of ocher liquid. It has the smell of the strange ale. They’ve come to the right place. Workers stack crates in back rooms. They are gaunt, sickly and strange looking people - mutated by prolonged consumption and exposure to the ale.
MAP 4: A rotating bridge moves with the correct incantations - players must be careful not to open the wrong doors lest they unleash unknown foes. The people running this operation have living quarters and a chapel where they worship a stone idol.
MAP 5: A large writhing grub-beast is chained screeching and hissing. A handful of people prepare and throw meat into it’s slime spewing mouth. They are careful to not get too close.
MAP 6: The source of the awful ale is revealed! The beast's back-end oozes the fetid liquid that is collected, bottled, and shipped in barrels and crates. Hopefully players haven't had too much to drink! Eew. Nasty.
