These abandoned ruins often contain hidden treasures and lost secrets, but beware! You are not likely to be the first to find them.
This Bundle Includes:
Ruined Castle - The Eastern reaches of the empire were once as populous and vibrant as its other regions, but the proximity to the border meant it often bore the brunt of invaders. Over generations the ownership of these lands swung back and forth through brutal warfare, and many of the towns and settlements were abandoned as people fled for their lives.
This small castle once stood as a key defence between the two lands, and was held by both sides at different times. Now its ruins are often used as a campsite for travelling groups, but the lack of a local guard means that bandits, monsters and worse are common in the area. Its walls may now offer a means of defence and survival once again.
Ruined Watchtower - Once the last bastion of arcane defence between the rival empires, this watchtower served as both a lookout post, and home to the Mage Corps Scouts regiment. This elite group used magic to spy on the enemy and it is rumoured they experimented with untested power sources to do so. Recently, a wandering sorcerer set up camp here to search for any remnants of these artefacts.
Ruined Temple - Among the many abandoned buildings near the empires border, perhaps one of the saddest is the temple to an unknown god. Once a social and spiritual centre for the community, no one now even remembers who was worshipped here. Everything of value was looted long ago, all except for whatever is in the sealed tomb that is. So far no one has been able to pry it open, and those who have tried suffered from nightmares and madness for weeks after.
Ruined Village - Typical of many of the settlements in the area, this one was abandoned long ago. Although occasionally used for shelter by military groups on their way to the border watch, very few people have passed through here since. Those who left did so in a hurry, and it is believed by some that there may be more than a few valuable trinkets and goods hidden away somewhere that were forgotten in the rush.
Ruined Bridge - When the high road was still maintained, the bridge was a major crossing point for merchants and travellers. The tolls charged for its use were spent on maintaining the roads and improving local infrastructure. In recent times those in power have become lax, allowing many such places to fall to ruin and disrepair. The bandits who now control the crossing charge a 'toll' of their own, the price usually being a choice between everything you have on you, or your life.
Ruined Shrine - Hidden among the tall pines, this ancient platform was once a well tended shrine to the Spirit of the Forest. Now, nature has begun to take it back as the forest finds its way between the stone blocks and tiles, slowly dismantling it.
Ruined Manor - Until recently the house on the hill stood tall and proud just outside the town. No one really knew the owners, but they had been spotted from a distance from time to time. One morning as the farmers made their way out to tend to the cattle, they noticed the house was in ruins. Strangely, it looked as though it had been this way for some time, but they were all certain it was standing the night before.
Ruined City Wall - Breach! The invaders have managed to take down part of the outer wall. Get there fast and stop them from overwhelming the guard, the fate of the entire city depends on it.
