The Into The Wilds Mountains 01 Bundle contains Day, Night & Unfurnished variants of 10 different dungeon themed maps! These maps are intended to be more generic than my regular sets and are perfect to drop in for random encounters when on the road or for when the party takes an unexpected turn and you want to be prepared!
Crossing the mountain range may seem like a clever shortcut to save time, but there is a good reason most choose to take the safer, longer path around the base. You have been warned!
This Bundle Includes:
Mountain Path - The mountain path continuously switches back and forth on itself, making progress feel slow and draining. You may feel the need to keep your eyes down on the path to avoid tripping, but beware! Some parts of the path are guarded by bandits and worse. Stay alert and you should be able to pass through relatively unscathed.
Cave Entrance - The rock rises from the ground like a wave, forming an inviting mouth that welcomes you in from the cold. Little light pierces the cave interior, but a faint rumbling can be heard from within.
Crevasse - Large sections of the ancient mountain range are riven with labyrinthine crevasses. Traversing this region will require a choice, do you try to take the upper path and find a way to cross the deep gorges while fighting the elements, or do you choose the sheltered route and risk getting lost in the winding lower paths. Neither is without danger.
Mountains Edge - Much of the treacherous winding path that leads down the mountain forces travellers to stick close to the cliff face on one side, or risk tumbling down the other. There are brief areas of respite, but these tend to be occupied by other denizens of the mountain.
The Summit - The path to the top of the mountain is not so much treacherous as it is arduous. Stone tablets line the path, telling the story of the spirit of the mountain. For many generations, the journey to the summit has been considered a pilgrimage of sorts, a way to pay penance for sins, ask the mountain for favour, or just find some inner peace.
Canyon - Steep escarpments rise on either side, forcing you down the narrow passageway. For the moment, sunlight shows the path, but among these mountains days are short and nights very long. Make your way quickly and quietly, there is only one way in and one way out, and you are not the only ones in here.
Rapids - The narrow stream flows from high above in the mountain, bisecting the path. It may seem relatively shallow, but the current is treacherous, the waterfalls numerous and the only bridge is broken. If you are looking to cross, it's best to do so quickly. Flash storms at the summit can send sudden surges of water downriver.
Cliff Face - This spot may seem like a cosy place for a rest, the rock wall behind and the lake in front seem to provide protection from all sides. That is until creatures start emerging from both, upset that you have invaded their territory.
