Above, the sun burns hot and clear, baking seaweed and leaving a sharp, salty smell in the air. Swimmers may get tangled in the mess and dragged beneath the oceanic canopy. Sometimes it seems the kelp is even reaching for you as the weeds rise and fall with waves against the rocks.
