One generally avoids being abducted and drugged by cantankerous gnomes and awaking to needlessly life-threatening scenarios; it is just not done. But alack and alas, one is not always gifted the care and predilection to avoid such untrustworthy and insane individuals. "You get what you pay for when you deal with Ellywick Saltseer", many have said. But could you really have paid to fatally plummet for dragon infested isles, and then be expected to trammel legions of their minions? Yes, yes, you must've paid... else there wouldn't be reason to hope in the continuity of your existence... right???
Heart of the Shroud is an exercise in overcoming illimitable odds for 4-6 characters of levels 14-16. Requiring a special kind of courage - or perhaps numbness - a party of adventurers must find an exit from an extremely hostile situation not of their choosing, the nature of which requires assassination of certain gargantuan monstrosities offensive to one Ellywick Saltseer, their presumed employer. Set on an expansive archipelago, this adventure is rife with an array of detailed locales, inscrutable and two-faced NPC's, and a suite of DM tools and monsters for pushing players to their breaking point. Heart of the Shroud is designed to be smoothly fitted into any existing 5E campaign or setting, and should take 6-8 sessions (approx. 18-24 hours) to complete.
