Ruins of Centito

The Cliff Dwellings of Centito were once a haven. It was a thriving sanctuary in the desert. Built into the side of the Sunswept Sandstone cliffs, the unique stonework architecture was unlike any other. The square structures were built upon ascending platforms, towering all the way up into the cavern ceiling. It was decorated with colorful totems and golden daises. The small settlement had many temples, dedicated to their unique deities. There were huge open wells to catch the precious rainwater. The people lived a life of hunting, gathering and worship. They thrived in peace for an age, ruled by a dynasty of chieftains and occult priests.
There is no historical account of the actual battle, but when Arias the Imperial Liaison was sent to the site, he found only ruinous shambles. He came to bring news of prosperity, as the kingdoms were allying. But he found only tragedy and wreckage. His official account states, “There was not a soul to be found. No fresh food or clean water. There was no doubt a siege, as the walls were crumbled, the doors kicked off their hinges. All of the goods plundered from the town proper, and treasures taken from the Chieftains Cave. It is a site of a true horror. But oddly, there were no bodies or bones. No blood stains or broken arrows. No hard evidence to speak of. Quite a terrible conundrum.”
~ Cornelia Couture, Grand Museum Historian
