A What’s O.L.D. is N.E.W. (W.O.I.N.)-compatible, setting-agnostic Cordyceps Rules Expansion to help you bring the strange and terrifying story of biologically-induced fungal zombie-ism to your campaigns!
With this rules expansion Add-On, you will have all the tools you need to incorporate a mutated form of the infamous Ophiocordyceps fungus, or ”zombie-ant fungus”, that infects humanoids and controls and manipulates behavior.
Inside You Will Find Rules For:
- Implementing the progressive condition that affects mental state and physical appearance and results in the manifestation of a “cordyceps zombie.”
- Incorporating the four stages of the cordyceps zombie condition.
- Incorporating unique phases of the fungus into your campaign, including a slime mold-like plasmodium fungal life phase that can creep along in hospitable environments to find new victims, or underground fungal tendrils that allow the fungus to exist as an almost-sentient environmental entity, communicating over long distances with other cordyceps zombies.
- Infectious fungal spores that may be encountered in specific environments, may be expelled by some of the fungal life phases, or may be launched as ranged attacks by the most advanced stage cordyceps zombie, the Stage IV Burster!
- Implementing wound location variant rules that affect the progression and onset of the cordyceps fungal disease.
- A Stage I Fungal Infected Cordyceps Zombie Template that you can use to rapidly convert NPCs (or unfortunate PCs!) into Stage I cordyceps zombies.
Also included is a Creature Conspectus providing complete statistics for four types of humanoid cordyceps zombies – Stage I, Stage II, Stage III, and Stage IV – each with Dynamic Lighting-enabled full color art tokens!
Because this expansion is setting-agnostic, it can be easily incorporated into your What’s O.L.D. is N.E.W. (W.O.I.N.) -compatible fantasy setting, modern setting, or science fiction/science fantasy setting campaign.

How do I access my content?
You can include this Add-On content from the Game Launch page of your What’s O.L.D. is N.E.W. (W.O.I.N.) game.
- Be sure your game uses the What’s O.L.D. is N.E.W. (W.O.I.N.) [by John W. and Ghostroo] character sheet.
- Under the “Game Addons” drop down, select the Cordyceps Rules Expansion Add-On and click “Add to Game” to include it in your game.
- Once the Add-on has been successfully added to your game, launch the game, and simply go to the “Journal” tab of the sidebar and look for the Cordyceps Rules Expansion” folder. In that folder you can view and search all rules expansion entries, drag-and-drop Cordyceps Zombies from the Creature Conspectus onto your maps, or open the NPC character sheets to view details and play. Also, on the “My Pages” drop down, look for the “Cordyceps” page that is pre-populated with the four default tokens for each stage of the Cordyceps Zombies included.
