The Sky Bandit | 1st Level 5e Adventure

Where to Include This Adventure

The Sky Bandit is a Fifth Edition adventure designed and optimized for four players of 1st level. This adventure works well set in a large city or small township.

Plot

An ingenious dwarven artificer has allegedly been committing a series of thefts using a set of arcane metal wings.

Background

Durin Sternfist was orphaned at a young age in the grand city of Gracelark, he found it tough to make a life for himself with no family or connections to speak of. That was until an opportunity came to him in the form of an apprenticeship. Durin was welcomed into the workshop and home of a human artificer named Daren Abletorn who taught him the craft of tinkering and metallurgy. The workshop was located in Daren’s business known as the Ableworks Forge. Many many years later, upon the passing of Daren Abletorn, Durin was surprised to find the entire shop had been bequeathed to him. Durin kept the business going, toiling long and hard making just enough for the shop’s doors to stay open and his stomach to remain fed. That all changed the day a strange man came through Ablework’s doors. Henry “Booker” Watson wanted a special weapon made based on plans he stole from a foreign inventor. The plans were for a black powder rifle which Booker planned to use on a very lucrative job. Booker had a proposition for Durin: if Durin could be his wingman for this job, Duran could split the earnings with him fifty-fifty, Durian accepted immediately. The artificer soon discovered Booker’s plan was to rob a noble’s caravan on the road out of the city using the newly crafted metal guns. When the day of the robbery came, everything went exactly to plan, that was until Booker turned his rifle on Durin. Booker had no plans to split his earnings and tried to kill his new partner in cold blood. Luckily for Durin he had never fully trusted Booker and crafted himself a pair of wings which he used to escape the attack. Booker, now angry over his failed double cross, began spreading rumors about Durin, calling him Ironwing the dreaded bandit of the skies in order to ruin his public image.
