Gold was the first thing we noticed. Not the vault, nor the statues, nor the towering halls carved deep beneath the earth. Gold. Coins lay scattered between the stones, glittering in the torchlight like fallen stars. A jeweled goblet rested forgotten upon a stair. Rings sat upon dusty altars. Wealth enough to tempt a man lingered in every corner, as though the temple itself wished to test the strength of mortal hearts.
The Golden Palm has embedded its ritual within the Temple of Greed, a forgotten temple in the Southern Valleys that Varo has reshaped into a mansion-like trade house and private treasury. From the outside, the site presents itself as wealthy, guarded, and legitimate. Within, every chamber is arranged around collection, sorting, display, and the movement of stolen wealth toward the final hoard.
Unlike a simple vault or shrine, the Temple of Greed operates as a working system. The first rooms test visitors through offerings, visible wealth, and controlled access. Side chambers contain planning ledgers, gem displays, storage spaces, living quarters, feast tables, and Varo’s Tomb. The deeper rooms move treasure through carts, chutes, sacks, and molten gold rites before it reaches the Grand Hoard.
