A desert, or a hot desert in this case, is a land with very scarce water sources, where all its fauna and flora are adapted to survive in these extreme conditions. While it may seem harsh and inhospitable to alien folk, people like the Egyptians have lived there for as long as history knows, having developed technologies for thousands of years to make the best use of water and thus survive. Also due to the low heat retention during the day, nights in a hot desert can be very cold, sometimes even droping below zero.
A desert's fauna consists majorly of dry shrubs, cacti and trees with deep roots to find groundwater.
