A jagged silhouette of rusted towers and crooked walls looms shrouded by the red haze, a jagged carcass stitched together from scrap metal, burnt out engines, and scorched plating. Crooked wind turbines creak and rattle in the dry heat, their vents choking on ash and metal cuttings. Arcs of lightning span between exposed coils, adding notes of ozone to the pervasive scent of burning oil.
Even from afar, you can see lights, flickering strings of crystals dangling from wire lines. They sway in the heat haze, casting dancing reflections across the dust-covered ground. Closer still, you can make out the movement of shapes among the wreckage: merchants, scavengers, creatures wrapped in soot and smoke. The whole place feels alive, a bustling hive torn open to expose the unsightly structures within.
Fort Knucklebone isn’t beautiful, but it sure is unforgettable. A place where the broken, the damned, and the reckless gather beneath the endless firelight of Avernus, a scrap heap - sanctuary, held together by the stubborn will to persist and a powerful Hag at the center of it all.
This release contains eight battlemaps and eight sceneries:
The Gate: Built from and around a derelict ship; nobody knows how it got here.
The Junkyard: The central plaza connecting all maps, where the Hag’s prime minion wanders.
Tinker’s Shed: An infernal workshop revolving around Infernal War Machines.
The Hostel: An improvised encampment that is perfect to get a good night’s rest without having to stay vigilant. (A murderer wrote this).
The Well: A wretched hive of scum and villainy. Even worse, a tiki-bar. Perfect to take on jobs and enemies.
The Arcade: Here gather bustling crowds, where traders sell their wares from all over the Seven Hells.
Mad Maggie’s Lair: The private quarters of the Night Hag, trespassing forbidden.
The Dream Machine: An eldritch apparatus, used by Maggie to gently and consensually blur the lines of dream and reality.
Use it for: The perfect open sandbox hub in Avernus, ideal to spend downtime, pick up new quests or further explore the setting for the Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus module or any adventure taking place in Avernus. The modular structure allows easy insertion of homebrew quests, visiting NPCs, or external homebrew tie-ins.
