It is said that centuries ago, when gods still walked among mortals, a kingdom built a temple on a floating island. There, they paid tribute to the ancient weaknesses of the world: hunger, plague, war, and despair. The priests believed that by offering sacrifices to these forces, they could keep them under control and protect their people.
But as time passed, those powers were forgotten, and the altars fell silent. Without the strength of its rituals, the island began to crumble. Now, it remains aloft only through the remnants of its ancient magic.
In recent moons, the isle has been sighted drifting over several cities. Some believe it to be an omen: when the island falls, it will devastate all that lies below. Others claim that within its ruins rests a forbidden power—one that could either preserve it or hasten its destruction.
