The mission seemed simple: escort a man from his village to the Royal City. Everything went smoothly during the first few days of travel—until they reached the point where they had to cross the great lake that separates the two cities. To do so, they’ll follow a narrow strip of land that stretches across the water.
The terrain is uneven, eroded by the constant movement of water on both sides. Trees, stones, and grass offer some cover, but also plenty of spots where danger could be hiding.
The client didn’t share many details. He only explained that he needed to reach the city to close an important deal with the king. The adventurers weren’t told anything else; they didn’t need to be. Their job isn’t to ask questions—only to keep him safe.
Still, one thing is hard to ignore: the reward is far too generous for such a simple journey. And soon, the reason becomes clear. Rumors suggest that groups of bandits have been hired to stop the man from reaching his destination. No one knows who sent them or why, but they’re willing to kill if necessary.
Now, on this narrow and dangerous path, the adventurers must stay sharp. Attacks could come from anywhere, and the client’s safety is entirely in their hands.
