The Old Town was always the mirror of the city prosperous development. Beyond the grins of the shop-keeps, under the shiny floorboard of the embassy, beneath the cobble streets stirred something ancient, primeval. Few did know that the district was built on the ruins of a much older settlement of unknown origin. There, in the labyrinthine succession of collapsed tunnels and aqueducts, something primordial stirred, occasionally leaving its dark chambers for brief visits into the numerous sewers and cisterns that were connected to its lair, much to the dismay of the city workers.
