Underworld Oni Pleasure Palace (36”×54”)
This is the complete dungeon map, featuring both parts 1 & 2.
Welcome to the Underzee Palace, a luxurious pleasure palace & gambling house. Test your chances in the Hall of Eternal Fortune, observe the daily wrestling matches (we are not referring to the patrons’ usual brawls), and step into the Lotus Eater Room for a taste of the infinite heavens.
When you're done upstairs, head downstairs to the VIP section & see the sprawling lower floor. Visit the Leviathan’s Lounge, where kings & regents make deals with devils — and bask in the private gaze of the titular captive beast with a drink of phoenix tears. We promise it can’t read your mind. You can also make a sacrifice by casting your name into the fires of the shrine — are you praying to the leviathan? Or is there another god at work here?
Or perhaps you’d rather slip into the backrooms, and get your hands on the contents of the Drowned Archives? They say even greater treasures are sunken beneath the stagnant lily pools. Maybe you can find a way to swipe the vault key from the office of the House Lord. Hopefully, you won’t wind up in prison & find out the hard way what keeps the blue lanterns perpetually lit…
Thoughts
- High rollers may be betting more than money — think souls, memories, or time left to live.
- Big glass panes don’t cut it for you? Tell your players that the glass is white plaster & hide the sea from view.
- The structure is mostly accommodating for large characters! Some areas may still be cramped.
- A weak wall in the basement bathrooms provides a potential backdoor into the staff areas.
- The bathroom fountains, for that matter, might serve as an alternative (& disgusting) way into the facility.
Contents
Floor 1
- Gambling Hall: I may take a lot of risks but I tend to prefer the odds be rigged in my favor. This place is anything but that.
- Cliffside Clouds: Don’t feel like an underwater gambling house? This variant sticks out the side of a mountain instead.
- Dancers: A large stage occupies the main hall, for those who’d prefer something more elegant than sumo wrestling.
- Low Magic: We’ve stripped out the oni-sized furniture & architecture and removed all the conspicuous glowing stuff & blue lights! It’s still a bit ridiculous but if you’re picky about what you let into your setting, this should be more compatible.
- Flood: A pressure wave shattered the domes. Fortunately, there’s wards in case of flood — but is something coming through them?
- Blueprints: Labeled or unlabeled to help you or your players navigate!
- Day/Night Variants: Wherever applicable!
Floor 2
- Standard: A whole dungeon to pair with the first part. Chop it into separate rooms or use the whole thing as-is.
- Low Magic: We stripped out most of the flashy glowing stuff & the giant beast so you can fit it into your less ridiculous campaigns, if you’re strict about what gets into your games.
- No Leviathan: Like the magic but not the giant beast? Woosh! It’s gone.
- Flooded Ruins: The entire dungeon has been converted into a wreck, flooded and broken. How much of value remains inside?
- Clouds: To pair with the prior map’s cloudy variant, a version where the abyssal depths are replaced with a cloudy view — perhaps of a canyon, or else a mountainside vista.
- Day/Night Variants: Wherever applicable!
