Overladen merchant ships cumbersomely jockey for position oblivious to the plight of the smaller boats around them. Their goal, the limited berths of the Enclave. A demonstration of the Shogun’s absolute rule, the enclave is the only port where the exotic goods from other nations may land. Once docked, the Portmaster’s guards and officials board and catalogue the goods. Captains found to be carrying contraband are efficiently executed and thrown overboard.
Grim faced soldiers stand watch at the short bridge between the enclave and the mainland. Resolute in their duty, not even abandoning their posts in the face of typhoon or tsunami, they ensure no outsider steps foot on the mainland. Of course, following them all being washed away by a typhoon or tsunami, a daring outsider may be able to make the crossing…
