Jungle Trail

The din of exotic birds accompanied your travels since dawn. On both sides of the road, thick foliage and roots render the enclosing woods next to impenetrable. From what this journal you've been following says, the ruins should be close-by, hidden away in a cocoon of vegetation. The excavations will begin shortly, as long as you can reach camp before the next night. The noises you heard during your last vigil were... unsettling, to say the least !

Day — A resplendant sun shines over the trail, reflecting into the stream. If only the heat wasn't so oppressive...
Dusk — As the last rays of the sun slowly shy away behind the tree line, night approaches !
Night — The thick mantle of night envelopped the jungle in creeping darkness. Strange sounds echo through the whole forest. It's the perfect time for an ambush, you think !
Morning — As the sun reappears behind the palm trees, you can now see clearly the fresh dew stuck in the spider webs, the glistening moss at your feet and humid vines creeping around the tree.
Creepy — The jungle has been more dreary than usual lately. The vibrant colours of the woods are now washed off and mournful. You are getting close to the source of this gloom. Keep your weapons ready !
Fey — The air is filled with magic. Strange creatures frolic with the forest critters. Some are waving at you from the surrounding palm trees. Where are they trying to lead you ?
Thicket — The jungle feel more overwhelming than ever. You can hardly breathe. What kind of magical curse could cause such an effect on a regional wide scale ?
Underworld — You definitely left the material plane at some point. The jungle sprawls in every direction, under a sunless sky, under a moonless night.
