Few walks are as intimidating as walking along the silk carpets to an audience with the Dragon Emperor.
Twin golden dragon statues, eternally entwined, loom menacingly above the pond. Above the roofs flanking the walker, lifelike dragons, carved from jade stare down through ruby eyes. The huge dragon head above the entrance to the throne room glares malevolently at the courtyard. Intense heat from the braziers amplifies the intensity.
Even when prostrate with eyes to the floor, dragon visages woven into the rugs stare back at supplicants, reminding them whose presence they are in.
