In the deep desert, tucked away between the arms of a huge mountain looming out of the endless sand, is a collection of oases that have become the core of a permanent settlement. Over time, the settlement has grown into a large city, possibly even a metropolis... The walls, originally built to surround the oases, [then] small settlement, orchards and fields are just starting to feel a bit tight, resulting in a slum outside the SE gate [Herders Gate]
Samarahd is a wonderfully detailed city map, with plenty of interesting possibilities for many adventures.

I drew this map so that Tom Cartos could go wild creating battlemaps specifically based on locations in Samarahd... as of July 2021, He has not completed any, but keep an eye out in the future...
