After seizing the Alabaster Throne, the orc king Drudge turned his attention to wreaking unholy vengeance upon the Empire. As news of the uprising in Caecras spread, orcs throughout Rûl cast off their thralldom, abandoning their toils to embrace freedom for the first time. The time had come to rally behind their new king and fight to secure orc liberty for one and all. With wicked weapons in hand and steely purpose in their hearts, they marched to Caecras, ready to lend their strength to the rebellion.
Yet, as their ranks swell, so too does their demand for food and materiel for war-making. The countryside around the capital is burnt out and barren, pillaged of all goods and necessaries the rebels need for their growing army. With their reserves dwindling, the orcs dispatch ever-larger raiding parties farther and farther out from the city in search of sustenance and arms. Inevitably, this brings about vicious encounters between the armed rebels and desperate refugees, resulting in violence, blood, and, sometimes, massacre.
Weeks after the events described in Orc Wars: Hell in Caecras, the player characters spent their time scavenging or stealing food when not dodging orc patrols. The situation grows desperate, though. Survival depends on escaping the Empire. Perhaps they can find a new life in the Confederacy of the Nine Cities. Getting over the border will take some doing. If the group would escape, they will need to do whatever it takes, using every skill, ability, and resource they have to reach the relative safety of lands free from orc dominance... for now.
Orc Wars: Whatever It Takes is the third part of the Orc Wars campaign. Written as a challenging adventure for novice characters, it takes the group to a place where they can embark on the expert path. The characters must escape the city’s death and destruction or soon find themselves slain or enslaved.
