It’s midnight, the fire is low, and the only light comes from a single, flickering lantern above the door. The road behind you is swallowed by fog, and the road ahead is worse. Conveniently, the Black Lantern Inn is right here for you.
Your adventurers arrive at a squat, mist-shrouded inn, its walls sagging under the weight of decades. The place is serviceable, but something feels wrong. The lanterns flicker without wind, the stew tastes of iron, and the innkeeper’s smile doesn’t reach his eyes. The regulars keep to themselves, their hands always busy, their voices always low.
The players’ instincts will be to poke, to prod, to dig. And dig they should. The floorboards creak where they shouldn’t. The shadows pool too deeply in the corners. And the guests? They wake screaming, their eyes or worse gone in the night.
The innkeeper knows what’s coming. The shadows know what’s at stake. And the adventurers? They’re about to find out just how hungry the dark can be, once you shove in your plot device for your next adventure!
