Druids of the Circle of Dread draw on dark magic to transform themselves, taking the form of nightmarish monstrosities to punish any who would trespass in their domain. These Druids can strike fear and confusion into the hearts of their enemies, and move through darkness with ease.

With this subclass, you can transform into a Monstrosity with a challenge rating up to 1/3 of your level. Monstrosities are often stronger and have more utility than Beasts at the same challenge rating - the subclass design accounts for that power difference. The Circle of Dread is comparable to the Circle of the Moon, making it a balanced addition at any table.

This subclass is designed for the 2024 version of 5th edition. It can be modified for the 2014 Wild Shape ruleset by removing the Temporary Hit Points from its Nightmare Form feature.
