Near the marsh roads of Crossgrass, the Greenfen Crew maintains a fortified keep that most locals avoid. Prisoners vanish behind its barred halls, and trade routes bend subtly around its territory. What begins as a targeted rescue mission quickly exposes something far more deliberate. Beneath the surface level of the keep, drainage channels, ritual chambers, and controlled sacrificial spaces reveal a sect aligned with a fallen Saint of Pestilence. As Church of Stars initiates await sacrifice in the depths, the adventurers must infiltrate a crowded stronghold, uncover what is truly happening below, and escape before contamination spreads beyond the marsh.
Chains of Pestilence is a focused dungeon crawl centered on infiltration, discovery, and rising pressure. The adventure begins within a functioning bandit stronghold where routines, guards, and prisoners create a believable front. As the party pushes deeper, that structure gives way to ritual preparation, controlled pestilence, and clear signs of organized cult activity beneath the surface.
Combat takes place in tight corridors, cells, and ritual chambers where numbers matter and positioning is critical. Investigation rewards careful players with insight into the cult’s intentions before the threat fully reveals itself. The final stretch replaces methodical progress with urgency, forcing decisive movement through a keep that is no longer stable.

Chains of Pestilence is a 5th edition, level 6 adventure set in Central Latakar near Crossgrass. Designed for 1 to 2 sessions (4 to 6 hours), it features a fortified bandit stronghold, cult-driven ritual chambers, a large-scale confrontation in a confined ritual hall, and a structured chase mechanic for the final act. Built for tables that enjoy dense encounters, coordinated enemies, and escape sequences that reward fast decision-making.
