The Corrupted Water Spirit Monster Hunt is a 5th edition short adventure designed for 3–7 characters of 6th to 7th level. This hunt features an eerie, illusion-focused boss encounter set within the Glowing Trench, where fractured memories, shifting reflections, and a shard tied to a drowned god distort everything around the party. The fight challenges players with environmental hazards, psychic distortion, emotional manipulation, and a multi-phase battle against a guardian that can no longer control the memories it once protected. Ideal for groups who enjoy atmospheric tension and high-stakes underwater exploration, this hunt offers a memorable test of both willpower and awareness.

Are you ready to hunt?

Far below the surface of Latakar’s southern waters lies a stillwater cavern once regarded as a sanctuary for scouts and benthic travelers. Its guardian, a tranquil elemental spirit shaped by centuries of drifting currents, guided lost wanderers through the deep with gentle vigilance. That serenity ended when a violet shard slipped into its domain. The shard carried an echo of a long-fallen drowned god, and the spirit reached for it without knowing the danger it held. The instant it touched the shard, every memory the spirit had ever absorbed twisted into something painful and confused. The once-calm currents trembled. Reflections broke away from their sources. Voices bled into one another, creating illusions shaped by grief, hope, and the remnants of forgotten lives.

Now the cavern lake pulses with irregular violet light, and its glasslike surface responds a moment too late to any disturbance. Hunters who enter the chamber hear whispers that sound far too familiar to ignore. Some voices beckon with comfort, while others call from imagined shores or from dreams the party never actually lived. The spirit itself drifts through the water in a shifting silhouette, its features constantly reshaping into faces that echo memories both real and stolen. The battle grows more chaotic as the shard inside it begins to fracture, and its instability spreads through the environment in waves of distortion.

This adventure can be adapted to your own campaign, played as a one-shot, or be part of the Starlight Chronicles setting that connects everything made by Kelfecil's Tales.
