Bearfolk

Bearfolk is a monster supplement for 5e that presents bearfolk as powerful woodland humanoids whose society revolves around territory, strength, and communal survival. Rather than portraying them as simple beast-men, this ladder treats bearfolk as a structured tribal culture where every member plays a clear role in the life of the forest.

The intent of this product is mechanical clarity and encounter variety without CR inflation. The ladder progresses from cub through increasingly capable hunters and defenders, culminating in a chieftain who commands the tribe through sheer physical dominance. The progression tops out at CR 6 so bearfolk remain settlement-scale powers rather than world-shaking threats.

Bearfolk encounters emphasize overwhelming strength, grappling control, and territorial defense. They close distance quickly, overpower enemies with crushing blows, and fight ferociously to defend their kin and homeland. A bearfolk tribe should feel like an immovable natural force—slow to anger, but devastating once provoked.

Cultural lore and deeper tribal customs are intentionally minimal. Whether bearfolk live as peaceful forest guardians, isolationist hunters, or territorial rivals to nearby settlements is left to the GM. These stat blocks are tools to populate wilderness regions with a physically imposing woodland people whose strength shapes every encounter.

Bearfolk Roster

Bearfolk Cub (CR 0): Young cub still learning the strength of its limbs. Curious and playful but already far stronger than most humanoid youths.
Bearfolk Gatherer (CR 1/8): Forager and fisher responsible for gathering food and defending the tribe’s supplies.
Bearfolk Hunter (CR 1/2): Patient woodland stalker who tracks prey through scent and sudden rushing attacks.
Bearfolk Warrior (CR 2): Tribal defender specializing in grappling enemies and overwhelming them with brute force.
Bearfolk Champion (CR 4): Veteran warrior whose dominance and strength inspire allied bearfolk in battle.
Bearfolk Chieftain (CR 6): Massive tribal leader who commands through physical authority and directs the tribe in war.

Moosefolk

Moosefolk is a monster supplement for 5e that presents moosefolk as solitary territorial giants of the northern forests and wetlands. Rather than organized tribal societies, moosefolk exist as powerful individuals whose presence dominates entire stretches of wilderness. Their immense frames, towering antlers, and explosive aggression make them some of the most dangerous humanoids a traveler can encounter in dense woodland.

The intent of this product is encounter identity through physical dominance and momentum-based combat. Moosefolk do not rely on complicated tactics, magic, or ranged warfare. Instead, they control the battlefield through devastating charges, trampling hooves, and the sheer force of their size. Their attacks knock enemies prone, scatter formations, and punish those who fail to respect their territory.

These creatures work best as environmental guardians and wilderness hazards. A single moosefolk can control a valley crossing, river ford, or forest clearing, forcing adventurers to carefully consider movement and positioning. Their power escalates naturally through the ladder, culminating in the Forest Sovereign — a massive territorial ruler capable of smashing entire battle lines apart.

Moosefolk encounters emphasize raw strength, sudden violence, and territorial dominance. They are not villains by nature, but they are unforgiving defenders of their domain. Travelers who wander too far into the deep forest may discover that the wilderness already has its rulers.

Moosefolk Roster

Moosefolk Calf (CR 1): Young but already massive woodland creature whose territorial instincts are beginning to develop.
Moosefolk Forager (CR 2): Solitary woodland gatherer who reacts violently when its territory is threatened.
Moosefolk Antler Warrior (CR 4): Powerful defender specializing in devastating antler charges that knock enemies to the ground.
Moosefolk Bog Strider (CR 6): Wetland hunter able to move freely through marsh and shallow water while crushing intruders.
Moosefolk Great Antler (CR 8): Massive elder warrior whose sheer size and strength dominate forest battlefields.
Moosefolk Forest Sovereign (CR 10): Legendary territorial ruler whose unstoppable charges shatter enemy formations.
