π Dreamcrawl Hex β Simplified Rules
π² Core Mechanics
Dream Map (Hex Grid)
- Each hex represents a surreal dream or nightmare location.
- A hex is only revealed when characters enter it.
Exploration
- When entering a hex, the GM rolls on the rollLands(Surreal Hexcrawl icon in map) Table (d10)..
- Optionally, roll additional tables for Events, Creatures, Phenomena, or Items.
Dream Duration
- Each dream journey lasts for one βsleep periodβ (a night).
- Upon waking, characters may remember or forget parts of the dream map.
Dream Logic
- Unlike a normal hexcrawl, dream geography is symbolic rather than consistent.
- Locations may shift, disappear, or reappear elsewhere.
- The map itself can be βalive.β
ποΈ d10 Dream Locations
- Tower of Insomnia β an endless spiral of glowing windows.
- Lake of Broken Reflections β distorted memories shimmer on the surface.
- Cemetery of Shadows β where dead dreams are buried.
- Library of the Unconscious β books float, rewrite, or remain blank.
- Garden of Lost Dreams β flowers whisper or weep.
- Palace of Nightmare β impossible angles and shifting halls.
- Harbor of Dawn β misty boats sail across nothingness.
- Throne of Eternal Sleep β guarded by faceless watchers.
- Market of Masks β identities are traded like coins.
- Subconscious Portal β gateway to deeper dream realms.
βοΈ Optional Rules
- Lucidity Points: players spend them to alter dream reality inside a hex.
- Living Nightmares: some hexes themselves act as hostile entities.
- Fading Memory: after waking, roll to see if one explored hex is forgotten.
