Let's talk about caves. Holes of various sizes in a planet's stony crust, providing shelter from the elements raging in the world beyond, often endowed with their own ecosystems, and a favourite haunt of adventurers either looking for fame, fortune, glory, or just a hiding place to lay low from the countless enemies that are hunting them down after the bard did that thing back in town. Picking the right cave for your party can be difficult, but not impossible! Consider these three fully animated variants: the classic giant spiders' lair; the bone-strewn haunt of some deadly foe that has a particular predilection for humanoid flesh; or a cavern rich with shimmering gem deposits that are definitely neither the eggs of some bizarre crystalline entity or cursed in any way! Caves: they're what's for dinner!
