"Heat rises all around you. Every surface you touch is hot, even the pillars surrounding this relic circle. You see a recess as you glance around in desperation for a glimpse of shelter. You press your hand upon it, and although it burns greatly, leaving scorched pocks across your palm, you hear a noise. A stairway opens up below you. 'Below?! Surely it'll be even hotter down there!', someone screams. 'Well, I'm willing to risk it!, another shouts. He runs down the stairway into a huge cavernous hall, and it's remarkably cool. How this makes sense, no one knows..."
