A one-shot of poison, deception, and a desperate quest for justice

When a nobleman is found murdered, suspicion falls on her former lover. In the rain-drenched village of Pinehall, a seemingly conclusive case threatens to bury the truth, forcing the characters to solve a deadly mystery before the court delivers its verdict.

Within the Forest of Tharlin, the village of Pinehall is consumed by the trial of Elpyra Morrovale, a respected tiefling apothecary accused of murdering Lord Vellioro Drayl. Poison has claimed the nobleman’s life, and a ceremonial dagger bearing Elpyra’s mark appears to confirm her guilt. The proceedings are overseen by Father Liptis of the Church of the Divine Balance, while the silver-tongued prosecutor Flavio Lemeel argues that jealousy and greed transformed the former romance into cold-hearted murder.

But a convincing accusation is not the same as the truth.

The characters must investigate the crime while the trial unfolds, gathering evidence that could overturn the prosecution’s case. Their inquiries take them to the Shrine of the Redeemer to examine the body, into the lord’s manor to search for planted clues, and through the Glade of Silverhoofs to reconstruct his final hunt. As they question witnesses and confront the volatile Narthel Windoll, odd spores, conflicting accounts, and suspicious evidence point toward a deliberate scheme.

This mystery-driven adventure combines criminal investigation, legal drama, immersive roleplay, and dangerous action. From courtroom confrontations and tavern brawls to unexpected barn ambushes, the characters must follow every lead and challenge every convenient explanation. With an innocent life potentially at stake, solving the murder requires more than combat prowess: it demands sharp deduction, persuasive rhetoric, and the resolve to confront those who would manipulate justice for their own ends.
